Since we are not making a wearable item, I wouldn't think gauge is important. But, if you're making this as a soap saver or as an iPhone holder and want a tight fit, then gauge would be of interest for you. Please keep in mind that contributing factors need to be considered in achieving a specific gauge - 1) type of t-shirt material you will be using (e.g. polyester, cotton, blends, etc.) and 2) do you have a tendency to crochet tight or loose stiches. Below are measurement estimates if you want to do some swatching:
2 dc rows = 1 inch
dc, ch 1, dc, ch 1 = 1 inch
Well, I think that covers the important stuff. I would love to hear from you. Please leave me your comments you might have, any questions or just say hello. Tell me about yourself, if you've worked with tarn or other recycled yarns before, have you participated in past crochet or knit-alongs, etc..
Don’t forget to come back for the next step in the crochet-along!
